Mushroom Society of India (MSI) is located in DMR, Chambaghat, Solan (HP), India. It was established in August 1990 with only 10 founder members. Dr K.L. Chadha was the guiding force at the apex for establishing and strengthening the mushroom research infrastructures in the country was the founder President of MSI. In the same year MSI started publication of the Journal Mushroom Research” with quality papers exclusively on different aspects of mushrooms. Dr R.D. Rai was the first Editor-in–Chief of the Journal. Dr. B.L. Dhar was the Founder Secretary of MSI. Credit goes to Dr. Dhar for extending the membership of the MSI in India as well as in abroad. Dr. Dhar also organised Indian Mushroom Conference in the year 1997 which was well attended by the delegates from all over India and abroad. In the same year proceeding of the conference was published as a book entitled “Advances in Mushroom Biology and Production” edited by R. D. Rai, B. L. Dhar and R. N. Verma.

Since its inception, MSI has organized two International Conferences, two National symposium. Presently MSI has 550 life members, 36 annual members and 49 library members through out the world.
